“The Treasure of Spilamberto. Langobard lords at the border”, on the eight-hundredth anniversary of our castle, is an important occasion for chronicling its history.

Spilamberto has unique historical and cultural monuments and artefacts and its layout of harmonious quarters, the numerous churches and the works of art they display, the peaceful and hard-working atmosphere, the natural environment where it is located, at the beginning of what are still rolling and Tuscan-like Apennines, make this a pleasant place to live and an important destination for visitors. The strategic geographic location of our community and the surrounding municipalities is also quite important with respect what UNESCO has declared as “World Heritage Sites”, like the Cathedral of Modena (20 minutes), and cities like Bologna, Verona, Vicenza, Milan, Mantua, Florence, Ferrara and Ravenna (40 to 120 minutes by car).

The Langobard Treasure of Spilamberto exhibition can also be the occasion to experience and become more familiar with truly unique cuisine: from a product par excellence like the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, to amaretti, nocino, courtyard animals, the Bianca Modenese cow, and the hundreds of pasta dishes and magnificent and succulent second courses, plus wines, berries and much, much more.

We hope that “The Treasure of Spilamberto” will entice visitors to expand their horizons to a place, up to now better known for the excellence of services and companies, but that in terms of history, culture, landscapes and enogastronomic fare is worthy of being considered one of Italy’s most beautiful and hospitable areas.
